RoA Personal Statements Y10
WRITING YOUR PERSONAL STATEMENT Your personal statement is important; it is your opportunity to tell other people about your achievements and what is special about you. You need to produce a personal statement to include in your Year 10 Record of Achievement. This will be issued in June. The work you have done for your Progress File will help you produce this personal statement. This personal statement needs to be completed by Friday 11th May so that it can be printed in time to go home with your RoA. WHAT TO INCLUDE Every personal statement is unique – just like you. It is up to you what you write, but be positive about yourself and your achievements. The following may be useful in helping you plan what you want to include. - Start with some background information about yourself – you could say that you are in Year 10 at Tuxford and have been here for 4 years. Tell the reader about your personal qualities, such as reliability and punctuality (if you have received certificates for attendance you can mention these)
- Now say what you are good at - your achievements – and what you are proud of having done in school. This might be particular subjects you have been successful in (or pieces of coursework you have got a good mark for)
- Say what sort of placement you would like for work experience and what you hope to learn (for example your work placement may have given you experience of working as part of a team or gaining confidence in dealing with people, working with animals or with young children)
- Tell people about things you are involved in outside school – part time jobs (and what you have learned from them) and sports activities and teams you play for
- Finally you tell the reader about your hopes for the future – mention college, or university, courses you are interested in, or particular careers or jobs you would like to do
