Welcome

Welcome to the Physical Education Department at Tuxford School. At Tuxford pupils have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of sports in their lessons. The curriculum for Years 7 to 9 includes hockey, basketball, football, rugby, cross-country, netball, gymnastics and ball skills, athletics, rounders, tennis, cricket and health related fitness. In addition to the above, in Years 10 and 11 step aerobics, trampoline and table tennis are also available. As well as this Key Stage 4 pupils also have the chance to undertake Leadership in Sport Awards such as the Junior Sports Leaders Award and Junior Football Organiser. The school is also involved in numerous initiatives including School Sports Co-ordinator, Healthy Schools, Gifted and Talented, Step into Sport, Study Support and Awards for All. We have been awarded “Sportsmark” for a second time and the “Football Association Chartermark” in recognition of the quality of our work. Recently we have been awarded “Healthy Schools” recognition and additionally, we have received the “Sportsmark Gold” award, something which has been gained by only a few schools around the country and is given for outstanding sporting provision over a period of time.
