
Sam Jerromes 11OH and Philip Jerromes 7NT For their dedication and commitment to Music Press: “The Nottinghamshire Good Practice Festival Fortnight is to show the whole of Nottinghamshire the excellent work happening in Nottinghamshire Schools. The Event began recently with a conference at Center Parcs, Sherwood Forest. The guest speaker was Sir John Jones, who addressed the conference. Displays of success and workshops took place throughout the day. Tuxford School shared its success with displays of Good Practice and Art Work. Guests were entertained during the day by Nottinghamshire Education County Performers, one being the “Red Hot Band” which Philip and Sam Jerromes, (two Tuxford School students) are members of.” Charlotte Hancock 8EJ, Emma Wilson 8EJ, Paige Stones 7MG, Sasha Launders 7MG, Charlotte Callingham 7MG, Toni Kirkland 7MG, Chloe Durham 7MG, Hayley Stafford 7MG, Tamara Childs 9ES. 3rd - 7th July For their dedication and commitment to the “Wednesday Reading Club” In April, the girls who attend the Wednesday reading club, watched a South Bank Show, special documentary, about Jacqueline Wilson, the children's author responsible for books such as The Story of Tracy Beaker and Diamond Girls. The girls were inspired to write letters to Jacquline, telling her how much they had liked the documentary. Mrs King also wrote a letter to accompany the girls' letters. She asked Jacqueline if she would come and open the new school library. Last week Mrs King and the girls received a post card from Jacqueline. She thanked us for the letters and said that unfortunately she was fully booked up in February/March 2007. Myles Evans 9LP 19th - 23rd June Myles Evans represented England U14's International Table Tennis Championships recently in the Isle of Man, against IOM, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Guernsey. He won the team event with his partner, being unbeaten all weekend and then went on to win the individual event resulting in two gold medals. Brett Mason 11AT 15th - 19th May Brett has been appointed "Step into Sport Ambassador" for Bassetlaw. Stephanie Tolan 11ED 8th - 12th May Stephanie has been chosen to have her poem 'Snowdrop' published in the book 'Natural Beauty' which can be ordered from all good bookshops worldwide. This is Stephanie's second poem to be published. Jenny Waring 11LR 1st - 5th May For designing the new school "Birthday Card" Rebecca Rose 12KJ, Frankie Hines 11ED, Ruth Helliwell 12KJ & Joanna Law 12KJ 3rd - 7th April For running the after school club at Gamston and Elkesley Primary schools in preparation for the Dance Festival Rebecca Rose 12KJ 27th - 31st March Rebecca has been leading the after school dance club for Years 7 & 8 for over 2 years. She has choreographed and taught many dances for many performances at the recent “Body Rhythms” and school shows. Rebecca also made all the costumes for the performances. James Bentley 9DS 20th - 24th March James Bentley, a Year 9 student, raised £1,500 on Sunday 26th March by completing a 6-mile trek for breast cancer research. James completed the distance by running and walking and finished in an hour and 50 minutes which is quite an achievement as 3 years ago James couldn’t even walk 600 yards. James was born prematurely at 28 weeks with severe disabilities and only 60% lung capacity. He has had 35 operations and regular injections of growth hormone. James was accompanied by friends and members of his family who gave him encouragement and loads of support. Catherine McConnell 9PE - 30th January - 3rd February 2006 For giving up her spare time, on several occasions, to help staff with after school activities. Lucy Wingad 10KG - 16th - 20th January 2006 For being selected to play for the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Football Association U16 Girls Representative team for the Midland Counties Youth Competition game versus Leicestershire and Rutland County FA, at their ground in Leicester. Ashley Hayes 7KT - 9th – 13th January 2006 For spontaneous selfless behaviour – Ashley offered help to North Leverton Primary School on two days when INSET training was being held here. On both days Ashley arrived promptly, conducted himself appropriately and worked tirelessly for the benefit of children and staff. He showed resourcefulness and application in all tasks that he undertook, and his good humoured approach was greatly appreciated by all.
